  • Gosh, can we believe it is JULY first......ALREADY?!! Wow. Amazing. You know, I sure don't remember time FLYING by when I was in my 20s thru 40's....it seemed like when I hit about 46 tho.....where'd the days zip off to so fast.

    on the way to delta

My hubby & I sure did enjoy our little outting in our redone vintage trailer. Got home yesterday & it did feel good! We went to Delta Junction one way and then came home an entirely different way. In Alaska we only have a hand full of main highways. You really cannot get lost. We left and just had a really nice drive...learned that frost heaves are more prominent and ...more! on that route. But it was so pretty. Plus...road construction gave us an extra bit of time to enjoy our sites.....! It took us seven and a half hours to go about 330 miles....it was great stopping along the way...having lunch in our own 'home'....visiting with people traveling & pulled off to enjoy special areas....I had forgotten how neat that stuff is. We haven't been on any trip in so long! We did get lost once.....at the driveway of our friends. We saw it, yet thought....'nah! THAT can't be it!' It wasn't what we expected. So we just kept tootling down that gravel road with no place to turn ourselves around! Finally turned onto a drive way a bit down the road...found a turn around....went back and guess who we saw sitting on their 4 wheeler waiting with "we knew you'd get lost" smiles..... !

We love their new home!!! It's in the middle of 300 acres....no power, no plumbing, no running water...no t.v. or computers....bathtub is outside....that thing is creative...they build a fire under it to heat the water up! Of course they don't use it in the winter...it hits 60 below on a regular basis in their area! Shivvers big time eh?!! It rained almost the whole time we were there....our furnace in our trailer decided to quit working, the temps dropped at night in the high 30's but we were warm under covers and REALLY enjoyed their woodstove when we went up to their place in the morning for breakfast...my buddy's hubby LOVES cooking breakfast...he is SO wierd!  ....I get up in the morning, shuffle to the kitchen for coffee & after that first cup....MAYBE I will fix breakfast....lucky Jeff this morning....I did just that! He loves cream of wheat...so it was easy! Both of us were spoiled tho....breakfast cooked and served each morning...wow! The hubby is like me...doesn't like ANY help in the kitchen. If we are going to do it...we are going to do it and don't need the help...actually, help destroys my train of thought & I can't function in an organized way!!  ....

On a severely rainy Friday I popped up with the idea that we run the 35 miles into Delta Junction and go garage saling...two pairs of eyes lit up like 4th of July fireworks....our breakfast buddy only groaned. However, he was out numbered and off we went! We had a great time and brought home treasures! Translation....more junk to shove in a corner somewhere & forget it's there.

softtwos__Santa Claus House Santa Claus's house ..... North Pole

Our trip home was thru the North Pole and Fairbanks way.....I've lived in Alaska 33 years and this was the second time I'd been there. Pathetic. What can I say, I'd rather go garage saling than to those places! But it was really nice & such a great trip home! We pulled off by a river that looked like great fishing, so my husband could get a bit of fishing in and decided to spend the night instead of continuing home...didn't catch any fish, but it sure was a treat...even listening to the traffic roar by over our heads on the bridge above us.....we tuned it out....had great practice in that dept.

"There's no place like home." ....so true. I COULD live like our friends out in the middle of nowhere....the peace and quiet is so real....you actually can hear air, I truly believe. Not wind mind you....but air. Their chores keep them busy and building their own home from scratch has kept them busy and tired. It isn't something that most people would want, but we truly could see ourselves in a place like that....however....seeing and wanting....uh.....well, we'll keep what we have & if the Lord some day tells us we should go that route....we know it too would be great. As we live .... our lives are always changing and some in bigger ways than others, and when you turn your life over to God's will and plans for you....it can sure be exciting. We were watching Charles Stanley last nite on t.v. and he was talking about that too and it gave him a smile just remembering his own past & how the Lord led he & his wife & how much better their lives have been when they commited their lives to Him. I know for me....when I surrender to the Lord to accomplish HIS will...not mine.....in my life....it has ALWAYS been more than I would have ever imagined....in an awesome way! That is how we wound up in Alaska instead of a little town in Texas like I had been asking Him for. After over 2 years of asking for what I wanted....I told Him..."I give up, Father....OBVIOUSLY YOU do not want us to move. But...I need Your help to make me accept staying here and being happy & doing what YOU want me to." Two weeks later, my husband was reading the classified ads and found the job that moved us to Alaska. We could not believe that we were here when we stepped off that plane!!! To this very day, I thank the Lord for accomplishing HIS will in my life instead of giving me what I thought I wanted. Amazing. Alaska had never....ever....entered my mind, nor my husband's. God is beyond awesome and like Psalm 37 was telling me this morning....all He wants is for us to trust in Him & He WILL bless us.

I hope He blesses YOUR day today!!

I loved that mountain range.  The space sounds awesome, but I want some creature comforts .  Sounds like you and hubby had a very relaxing time with friends and just enjoying what the good Lord put out there for us.
