  • HOW are we supposed to keep up with all of this??

Gad zooks! I cannot believe my eyes or ears sometimes! Politicians and politics...man, they drive me batso & yet...we NEED to stay up on this stuff and contact our congressmen about it all ! I love our Alaskan House Rep Don Young...he's been doing a fantastic job for us for over 30 years & I receive his updates. Which I just received one and could not believe what the obamanation cronies in Congress did. Well...I take that back. It is par for the course! Money appropriations  for our military was to be voted on ....God bless and protect them!!!....Obama and his greedy half wits decided that the legislation would surely go thru, so tried slipping 'other stuff' in with that....among which....get this!! Money for countries that hates America's guts! Excuse me.....??!!!!  I've got to share this with you....America is sooooo rich to 'spread the wealth', huh?? Obama fans got their 'change' alright.....

Rep. Young Votes Against Global Bailout
Washington, D.C. - Alaskan Congressman Don Young voted no this week on a global bailout bill brought before the floor under the guise of military funding.  H.R. 2346, the War Supplemental Appropriations Act, cuts funding for our troops and leaves Iran eligible to receive $1.8 billion in guaranteed International Monetary Fund (IMF) assets.  Of the bill's $105.8 billion price tag, $77.1 billion is for defense and ongoing wars, $4.1 billion less than was in the House's original version.  This bill includes $26 billion for non-defense related spending.

"Once again our military is being used as a political pawn as the bills that fund our troops are continually used as vehicles for other projects," said Rep. Young.  "An emergency war funding bill should be about war funding, but this bill is weighed down by some of the President's pet projects such as aiding the ailing economy's of our enemies and cash for clunkers.  It's shameful to say the least.  Our troops and their families deserve our respect, support, and the best we can offer them.  Each and every day they put their lives on the line in the name of freedom, and the majority in this Congress somehow finds it okay to use their bravery as collateral in pushing a social agenda.  I've heard personally from our soldiers in Alaska, including a recent phone call from a group of soldiers at Fort Wainwright, about how it hurts them to see their government use them in this way, and that, in turn, hurts me.  This Congress plays politics with many pieces of legislation; it's not right but it happens every day.  But using our military for those purposes is just plain wrong."

In addition to war funding, H.R. 2346 contains:
o   $5 billion in funding for the IMF which will be used to secure $108 billion in loans available to countries on the Department of State Sponsors of Terrorism list such as Syria, Iran, and Sudan.
    o   $1 billion for the Cash-for-Clunkers program
o   $1.85 billion for the Public Health and Social Services Emergency fund to prepare for an influenza pandemic, including tools to assist in international efforts
